REWIND
From forbidden fruit to Re-member-ance ~ Thousands of years ago there were civilizations which grew into empires, each of them lasting centuries if not more. Each of them had one thing in common, when it came to language and technology times of peace were also times where less was considered more. Somewhere in ancient times a spark was lit, where we were given a priceless gift: communication, creative expression. Painting, writing, reading, relating. Building, molding, singing, dancing. Along came sophisticated language, and along came war. And as we obtained knowledge we lost track of our source. Words became many intentions obscured, thinking for ourselves was a distraction and leaders were secured. It is true that we look to others, as lessons and friends. It is true that we look at many more with defense. Why this is so isn't easily explained, or where the idea began, that each thing is separate and independent and dog eat dog, friend eat friend. An idea which spread perhaps slowly, then fast. The worst virus ever not one escaped its grasp. Awakening for me is to remember something others do as well. That deep down a yearning churns in our chests. Much is said in the eyes of each other, for me they reveal what words could never address. Windows to the soul, and when they connect there is no word for what things are said. More is said in a moment of looking into the eyes of another, it is a speech without talking and a speech with clear intent. In the eyes of another, even a stranger or creature, in the eyes if we look deeply we may recognize a friend. If we look beyond sensory barriers and pursuits, at the one sitting next to us we in realize looking each other all this while we may have already knew. Not one of us is innocent, we look away, run, pretend. Spend, say everything, say nothing, disconnect. Ideas grandiose and understanding minute, off to the moon yet to each other rarely truly commune. Separation anxiety, I think we all know. Searching for each other, and which ones will do. If we look into the eyes of all things, we will recognize ourselves, If we look into each others eyes we will see something we always knew, souls never forget each other. Truth.
